Dear Nancy, Unfortunately, the content of your application form may no longer be modified since its validation. Serena Sep 04, I have already booked for the tests in Rome, although in my application form I chose Milan as the city where to take the tests. Do you think this change may be a problem? Nathalie - EU Careers Sep 11, Julie Ziegler Sep 02, Mariadaria Sep 02, Hi everyone, I have been registered as candidate to do the test on Mon. Elena Sep 02, I am confused…I have a selection for translator…I need to FIRST pass the verbal, numerical etc tests to be admitted to the translation test?!
The unwritten message seems to be if I am not good in maths or calculation I cannot be a good translator…: I suppose 1 point per exact answear…what about wrong or neutral not answeared questions? Since you will have 10 questions in this test, each question will be marked 1 point. Wrong or not answered questions will be marked zero. For further information, please consult our instructions available in our communication dd. I have noticed that for the Language Comprehension Tests d and e there is a discrepancy between the information given in the Notice of Competition and the Instructions to Candidates link from booking letter.
In the first it says that for these two tests there will be 10 questions for each and the pass mark is 5 for each. In the latter it says 12 questions. Could you please clarify and let me know the number of questions and the pass marks for these two tests.
Rosa - EU Careers Sep 02, Dear Anja, The notice of competition refers to the marking passmark 5 out of 10 points under point IV. Instructions to candidates indicate the timing for each test and the number of questions per test. We hope this clarifies your doubts. Mary Sep 02, The 10 marks will be split between 12 questions. Is this definitely correct? If so, will they be equally divided so that all questions have the same weighting or will there be an indication of the question weighting within the test?
Dear Mary, Each correct answer scores 1 point, wrong answers and unanswered questions are not penalised and score 0 point. If you are successful in the 12 questions, you will get 10 points. The scoring of all correct answers will be weighted. Ulla Sep 04, Would you mind spelling it out for me?: Does it mean that 10 correct answers will give 10 points following that each correct answer scores 1 point? Or is each correct answer weigthed, but does not have the same weight?
Or is each correct answer weighted the same way, giving 0,83 points? Dear Ulla, Indeed, each correct answer will give 0,83 points. The scoring maximum 10 points is divided between the 12 questions. Thank you so much. Dear Teresa, There is no fee to pay in order to sit the admission tests. Gerty Sep 01, Will we be allowed to use calculators for the numerical tests? Hi Mary, Yes, they have been published here http: I do know the real meaning of the abbreviation, thank you Here are some of the most common words that might be good to know.
I have also written some other words, either because they have different meanings in standard German and Swiss German, or just because I like them Other dialects may some times sound very different! Remember, here as well, that all ch 's should be pronounced like in German ach. All the vowels I have written should be pronounced.
The standard German version that you see here is to be pronounced the normal German way. By the way, it's not always easy to "translate" Swiss German words and expressions into standard German - if any of you have some other suggestions, I'm very thankful An explanation that I have got, which probably isn't completely true, but funny anyway, is that the German-speaking Swiss wanted to say "merci" instead of "danke", to prove that they weren't German.
The problem was only that then they sounded like they were trying to speak French without being very successful the Swiss German pronunciation of "merci" is rather special. The solution was to add the typical Swiss German ending "vilmal". Then there would be no doubt of where they were coming from. I don't mind sharing the soundclip and the illustrations with others, but I'd be happy if you ask me first Start page Norsk versjon.
