Description In the fictional universe of George Lucas' Star Wars films, robot icon c3po costumes called droids short for android come in many shapes and serve many purposes. Two droids-R2-D2 and C-3PO-have won enormous popularity for their supporting roles in all six of the series. Designed from artwork by Ralph McQuarrie inR2-D2 looks more like a small blue-and-white garbage can than a human being.
In the films, R2-D2 is the type of droid built to interface with computers and service starships-a kind of super technician suited for tasks well beyond human capability. By turns comic and courageous, this helpmate communicates with expressive squeals and head spins, lumbers on stubby legs, and repeatedly saves the lives of human masters.
Several R2-D2 units, specialized according to function and edited into a final composite, were used for making a single movie scene. Some units were controlled remotely. Others, like this one, were costume shells, in which actor Kenny Baker sat and manipulated the droid movements. Termed a protocol droid in the films, C-3PO can speak six million languages and serves the diverse cultures of Lucas' imaginary galaxy as a robotic diplomat and translator.
Where R2 is terse, 3PO is talkative. Where R2 is brave, 3PO is often tentative and sometimes downright cowardly. Where R2 looks like a machine, 3PO-in spite of the distinctive gold "skin" -more closely resembles a human in movements, vision, and intelligence In each of the Star Robot icon c3po costumes films, actor Anthony Daniels wore the C-3PO costumes. The sculpt itself was by Liz Moore but finished by Vader sculptor Brian Muir who took over from Liz when she left the project in early Liz tragically died before 3po was actually built but her influence over the design remains. Not sure what photo you saw, but four women helped clean up the two suits: There was a photo of Zeynep painting some details on the hands More recently, a conservator at the Smithsonian was attempting to stabilize the deterioration of their suit and a news article made the rounds about that process.
For the Ep3 suits, we made a robot icon c3po costumes modifications: We also made a new wire mid-section using molded silicone and rubber wires to make it more comfortable, and I cut new neck pieces to give Anthony a little more room near his throat.

Once upon a time, in robot icon c3po costumes galaxy far far away, our daughter was terribly sick from a flu and was relegated to basically lying in front of the television. It was my birthday, and I had just gotten the entire Star Wars series on blu-ray. I asked her if she was interested in a movie about robots and outer space.
Funnily enough, C3PO was my favorite as robot icon c3po costumes kid, too. Once painted and presented, he brought lots of kid-smiles. But she liked him anyway. So this year, when it came to Halloween costume choices, she had one request from the get-go: So I decided to get abstract with this, and see if we could pull it off cosplay-style.
I had seen all these awesome online tutorials about how to build your own cardboard armor, so I robot icon c3po costumes up a chestplate and back with cardboard, masking tape, and paperclay which is super fun stuff. When it dried, I sanded it and painted it gold. These feel soft to my legs! We have a funky C-3PO costume. So there you have it! I was going to try maybe a little brown pullover and get by as a Jedi, but she asked if I could be R2 with robot icon c3po costumes.

I wonder what she would think of C3PO being dismantled. All of those crafty websites are great for ideas but when you add your own twist, personal touch, you create memories. Something your daughter, and you, will always remember. You are so creative and so clever and C3PO is the icing on the cake.
I just sent this post to a bunch of friends and told them to join up! I particularly love your photo of you giving yourself a tat. Your little dolly is soooo lucky to have you for mama — and I know you feel the same. I really miss making tiny little costumes. I made several for my son when he was little. Now I have to look up paperclay and make myself some armor.
