We could raise it even further in the future, but obviously not in 3 months time which is just completely reckless and stupid. The point is not that it cannot be raised, the point is that we should scale in a smart way and if we decide to raise the blocksize with a hard fork we should strive to do it with wide enough agreement within the community and with the proper amount of time to code, test and prepare for it.
The rushed hard fork that is being prepared for November does not satisfy any of those requirements and therefore you see Tone and others speak out against it. You gotta phase that out and see the forest for the trees. So when he says that if bitcoin fails cryptomarket is done im facepalming. Smart contracts and money are just two applications of blockchain technology that will both have a great future.
