Miningit's what makes the RuneScape economy go round. Without it you wouldn't have your Runite Platelegs or the limestone bricks for your house. This is one of the best ways to make money in the game.

A single Runite Ore is worth up to 13k! In this guide we will cover how to get you the mining cape and where the best training spots are.

We will be covering free to play methods only. For the fastest experience XPdo your mining on a server world with lots of people.

The rocks will respawn faster on a busier world, which only means one thing- you will be able to raise your Mining level very fast. The higher-level rocks take more time to respawn then lower level rocks. For example, depending on the amount of people on the server, Rune Rocks might take up to 25 minutes, as opposed to clay which respawns almost instantly.

It is generally better to mine on a trading world such as world one or two. Although these servers have many more people logged in, most are concentrated around trading places such as banks or town centers. The rocks will respawn quicker on busy trading worlds, and the number of people Mining in that world is likely to be equal to a quieter world. Remember that your pickaxe affects how well you mine. It is very important to always use the highest-level pickaxe that your level will allow.

Click here for more information on the different pickaxes available. This is where a player fills their inventory with Ores and drops them all before repeating, as apposed to banking the ores. While this method of Mining allows players to raise their Mining level quickly, dropping a whole inventory of ores can take some time. In most locations, you will find that you can run not walk to a bank and deposit the ore in about the same amount of time as dropping, but benefit by having banked the ore.

Also, for all you lazy people out there, banking the ore requires considerably less clicking. When your run energy percentage drops, you can always drop a load or two while it regenerates. Always run on the way back from the bank, and if your energy percent allows, on your way to the bank as well. This will save a lot of time. The equipment you wear will affect the distance you are able to run, and therefore the pace you are able to gain ore, and xp at. The more weight you carry on your character means the less you will be able to run.

Instead, you will have to resort to walking to and from the banks. It is strongly recommended to wear robes or nothing at all other than your pickaxe. There are many, many ways to train this skill but in this guide we will show you the most efficient and fastest ways to get to To start off there aren't many ways to train mining. I suggest you either mine clay, Rune Essence after completing Rune Mysteries or tin and copper ore.

Each method has it's pros and cons so it is up to you to decide what method you want to use. For very quick Mining experience I suggest you mine clay and then drop it. Clay ore responds right away so you won't have to wait around waiting for it to respond. The best place to mine it is South-West Varrock. If you do choose to mine Copper and Tin ores which can be fairly fast, the ores at the mine south-east of Varrock are the closest to the bank.

The mining spot south-west of Varrock is the second closest. This method is good if you plan to train your Smithing at the same time.

ClayCopperand Tin ore aren't the only ores you can mine easily, however, the easiest way to train mining at these levels, while still earning money, is to mine Rune Essence in Varrock. To enter the rune essence mine, you will need to have completed the Rune Mysteries Quest.

Once you have achieved level 20 Miningyou will be faced with a choice. The choice you must make is this; Do you want to gain money, or experience? The fastest way to gain money is by Mining Coal Ore. The fastest way to gain experience is by Mining Iron Ore. Make sure you use a busy world people or more when mining at this spot in order to avoid competing with people. There is also Silver Ore which can be extracted. Silver is useful for training Crafting.

As you get in higher levels I would suggest move to Dwarven Mines in order to mine some Gold Ore which will give you more exp and some money. But is very slow due to the lack of Gold Ores. At first Mining Coal Ore will be very slow and people will beat you to the ores. Eventually you will be Mining with the speed of light, once you are able to mine Mithril Ore you can mine that as well as coal since it offers better exp and money.

But once again it will be a slow start, so don't give up. Now that you have finally achieved greatness it's time for the last part of your journey. But it's only going to be a harder and longer journey to get 99, it will test your pickaxe, your body, and patience to the max. But Jagex has been kind enough to bless us with some help mainly in the form of the Mining Guild.

You will be spending a lot of time in the Mining Guild. This is by far the best place to obtain Coalboth for members and free players. The only requirement to access the mining guild is level 60 Mining. However, if you drink a Dwarven Stoutwhich can be bought for 1gp at the pub in Falador, it will temporarily raise your Mining level by one. This is useful if you wish to enter the Mining Guild at level 59 Mining. Here you will be able to mine Coaland Mithril Ore till you die of boredom.

It will be extremely overcrowded with F2P miners as it is the only place out of the wilderness that has Rune Ore. This is the best Mining spot for Free to Play players.

It can be crowded at times, but since it has a mixture of higher level ores it makes it a choice place to train, even though it is a bit far from a bank. They both have a decent amount of high level ores for you to use. Or if you're really brave when you are at a much higher Mining level, you can mine Rune Ore in the Wilderness. Remember to be wary of Reverents and each Rune Ore takes 20 min to respawn. You teleport off the Tutorial Island and you come to the strange city of Lumbridge.

Eager to explore you head south to a mining pit and realize you love this skill. Wanting to see what other places to mine you begin to roam around RuneScape. Quickly getting lost you need help. Well, in this part of the guide we will show you all of the locations in the Free 2 Play world and what kind of ores are in here. The Al-Kharid Mine contains: This is a good Mining spot for drop mining, but isn't the best place to bank mine as it is a long run to the nearest bank. This location is not recommended for people under level 10, as there are level 14 Scorpions that could kill you with ease.

Other than that it is an excellent Mining spot! The Barbarian Village mine contains: This is a decent Mining area for people who are mining Coal since not many people come to this area. The closest banks are Edgeville and the Grand Exchange.

The Crafting Guild Mining Site contains: You need to be wearing a Brown Apron and have a Crafting level of 40 to be able to mine here. This is a good Mining spot for people who want to mine gold since people can't get in unless they have 40 Crafting. The Dwarven Mine contains: This is by far one of my favorite and best mining places.

It can be a bit crowded at times but there are tons of ore, and it is quite near the Falador West Bank. But beware if you combat level is low.

As you get deeper into the mine there are some scorpions lurking about. The Mining Guild contains: This location which is located inside the Dwarven Mine is a miner's heaven. If you are into Mining and have a Mining Level of 60, you want to be here. You have more ores than you can mine and you are right under the Falador West Bank making banking trips a lot easier.

The Rimmington Mine contains: This is a fairly good mining spot, the nearest bank is the Draynor Village Bank. The Southeast Varrock Mine contains: This is a great Mining spot for beginners since it is fairly close to the Varrock East Bank, and there is an abundance of quick respawning ores. The Southwest Varrock Mine contains: This is a good Mining spot. The only danger here is a Level 6 Mugger. The nearest bank is the Varrock West Bank which is just a short jog from the mine.

The Edgeville Dungeon Mine contains:

Mining and smithing are skills that can complement each other, and can be a productive way to make money. Since t his is my main skill recommendation , I will be more detailed in this article than in other skill guides.

It doesn't have a huge reward at lower levels, but the income is steady. Mining and smithing are actually separate skills. It is normal that a person who does smithing is a miner too, but players can also choose to do mining on its own. Mining is where players obtain ores from rocks using a pickaxe. Players can mine and sell their ores. Ores can trade very well if another player is buying lots of them for skill leveling. Click here to learn more about the different types of ores.

However, most players complement mining with smithing as well, at least until they get up to smithing steel bars. Smithing may be the most profitable skill in the whole of RuneScape if you're willing to edge it out to make the strongest products. Smithing can be completed without mining, but a player would then need to buy ores, which would be quite expensive.

Smithing is actually split into two activities. The first part is smelting. Smelting is putting ores into a furnace, making a bar of whatever materials were put in, e. Click here to see all the different kinds of bars you can make. Smelting gives you smithing experience. The other part is smithing. The metal bar made in smelting is put into an anvil and made into armour, weapons, etc. As you would have been taught on Tutorial Island, you need to bring a hammer with you in order to use an anvil.

Mining and smithing together can create a solid income because you do not have to rely on other players for trading. You can simply sell the products you made to their specialist stores or to the Grand Exchange for a good profit. I also recommend bolstering your mining level by mining rune essence. This can be effective because you continuously mine until you have a full inventory with one click in the rune essence mines.

Click here to see my guide on mining rune essence. When your mining level gets higher, you should purchase a better pickaxe. Stronger pickaxes allows players to mine ores faster.

They even sell rune pickaxes. It is possible to purchase better pickaxes for cheaper prices from the Grand Exchange as well as sell pickaxes you no longer need for higher prices than the specialist shop will offer you. To be able to wield stronger pickaxes, you must have a high enough attack level. To be able to mine with certain pickaxes, you need to have or be over a certain mining level.

Click here to learn more about pickaxes, including their prices and types. Training your mining and smithing levels. Now, I will detail how players can train their mining and smithing. The time chart I use is directed to mining level, as players will more likely mine, or mine and smith, rather than doing smithing on its own.

Dropping or keeping ores. Some players advocate dropping ores in an effort to increase your mining level faster. If you are going to do this, you should drop your ores after you mine because otherwise your hand will have to complete the arduous task of 56 fast clicks! I recommend banking your ores, because you can sell the ores later for a profit or you can smelt it into bars. The number of rocks of a particular metal , which I say are in particular mines , may need updating.

First of all, I suggest you take the Rune Mysteries Quest so you will be able to mine rune essence. Rune essence can be mined at mining level 1 and each essence is worth about 20 gp. Click here for my guide on mining rune essence. Mining rune essence will provide you with some extra mining experience on the side.

Now you will begin mining copper and tin ore. They both give the same amount of experience. The best mine to do this is probably the mine southeast of the east Varrock bank.

If you don't know where that is, click here to see the RuneScape world map. If you would like to smelt the copper and tin ore that you mine, you will have to find a furnace. There is no furnace in Varrock, so the closest furnace would probably be in Lumbridge. Use the spell "Lumbridge Home Teleport", which you can do at level 1 magic with no runes, and walk north and you will see the furnace.

It's surprisingly close to the teleported area. You can bank the bars you smelt on the 3rd level of Lumbridge Castle. To smith the item, you can use the anvil south of the east Varrock bank.

I think you should already be pretty familiar with that area. You can sell the items you make to their specialist stores, e. If there is no specialist store for the particular item you made, it is more time efficient simply to sell it to the general store. At combat level , players should take on the Knight Sword's Quest see below.

The Knight's Sword Quest. The Knight's Sword is a quest which gives players massive smithing experience. I suggest any player who is pursuing to level their smithing to take this quest because doing the quest isn't particularly difficult.

If you have smithing level 1, you can almost smith full iron after the quest. The Knight's Sword quest is one of the harder F2P quests.

However, the quest mainly involves walking. The hardest part of the quest is where you have to go into the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon. This dungeon is also known as the blurite mines dungeon, the ice cavern, the ice cave or the blurite cave.

You will have to mine blurite ore, but you have to avoid being killed until you have the ore. You need level 10 mining and a pickaxe in order to mine blurite ore.

There are level 57 ice warriors and level 53 ice giants that will attack you unprovoked, so be ready to run. Note that you retain the ore if you are killed and only have your pickaxe with you, so it's not all that dangerous. Some of the other items required are a redberry pie and two iron bars.

If you don't want to go through the trouble of making these items which requires cooking and smithing , simply buy them from the Grand Exchange. Redberry pies sell for around gp and two iron bars are about gp. Click here for a comprehensive walkthrough on the Knight's Sword quest. At around mining level 20, you would want to upgrade to mining iron. You should also be wielding a mithril pickaxe at mining level If you want to bank the ore, the best place is probably the mine southeast of the east Varrock bank again.

There are only 4 iron rocks, so the mine can be crowded, but mining iron gives quick experience, so they make up for each other. Again, you can teleport back to Lumbridge in order to smelt the ores and then walk back up to Varrock to smith them into items.

If you don't mind dropping the ores, you can go to the Hobgoblin Mine in the wilderness. Bring only a pickaxe and a weapon as hobgoblins will attack you for a little while when you are there.

You will only lose iron if you die, so it should be fine. At combat level 29, the best place to mine is in the Al Kharid Mine. The reason I said combat level 29 is because t he level scorpions there will ignore you. If you are more than double an aggressive monster's level, then the aggressive monster will ignore you. Otherwise you risk getting killed in the process of mining. The Al Kharid furnace is southwest of the mine. The bank is very close to the furnace, making this mine especially useful to smithers.

At mining level 30, players can mine coal. Coal is a very important resource as it's required, in increasing amounts, to make steel bars, mithril bars, adamant bars and rune bars. Coal can be mined in a whole range of places, but since it's in high demand, it is normally crowded. Mining coal will certainly give lower experience, although coal can be sold for a much higher profit than iron ore.

If you don't mind scorpions and king scorpions, there are 11 coal rocks in the Dwarven Mine. At Crandor Isle, there are 10 coal rocks, however, players must start the Dragon Slayer quest to have access to this mine. Watch out if you're going there too, because there are also skeletons, king scorpions, hobgoblins, moss giants and lesser demons on the isle. Some of the safer mines include the 7 coal rocks in the Lumbridge Swamp South-West mine and the 3 coal rocks in the Al Kharid mine.

If you are level 60 mining, there are 37 coal rocks in the mining guild. It is hard to suggest wilderness mines because players may get killed by revenants. There are 27 coal rocks in the Hobgoblin Mine.
