Thanks CD for your reply: I installed Electrum on another PC and tried to connect to bitcoins by using the private keys that were backed up using the csf file, but it fails and Electrum won't accept it for me. And when I try to restore using the seed, it never wants to connect to the server. I just posted a new video on upgrading: The seed is basically a cryptographic hash which contains all of the information about your wallet.
When you restore from seed, Electrum uses that hash to restore the Bitcoin wallet. The bitcoin itself is stored on the Bitcoin Blockchain.
The Blockchain is the distributed ledger where all of the Bitcoin in existence is stored. Your wallet simply points to the address on the Blockchain where you bitcoins are stored. What about placing the portable version of electrum in a pendrive?
